Bermuda grass is drought-tolerant, heat-resistant, and fast-growing, ideal for high-traffic areas like sports fields and busy lawns. It features a dense, fine to medium texture that quickly self-repairs.
Fescue Grass, including Tall and Fine varieties, is robust and adaptable, ideal for cooler climates. It offers deep roots for drought resistance, a fine texture, and shade tolerance, making it perfect for lawns and public green spaces.
Kentucky Bluegrass is cold-tolerant, ideal for harsh winters, and features a fine texture with a rich, dark green color. It's moderately shade-tolerant, perfect for lawns, parks, and recreational areas in cooler climates.
Centipede Grass is low-growing and slow-spreading with a medium texture. It's drought and heat-tolerant, low-maintenance, and thrives in acidic soils with moderate shade tolerance, making it ideal for lawns and low-traffic areas in warm climates.

Buffalo Grass is native to North American prairies, drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance. Its fine, grayish-green texture and dense growth make it ideal for low-traffic lawns in arid regions.
Zoysia Grass is versatile, tolerating various soil types and climates. It's slow-growing, low-maintenance, and drought-tolerant, with dense, medium-textured grass that resists wear, making it ideal for lawns, golf courses, and parks.
Perennial Ryegrass grows quickly and has a fine texture with a rich green color. It's cold-tolerant, perfect for overseeding warm-season grasses, and requires regular maintenance. Ideal for lawns, athletic fields, and golf courses in cool to temperate climates.

How Much Does It Cost To Install A New Lawn?
The cost for new lawn installation can vary depending on the method used (seed or sod), how much property grading is required, if you want a sprinkler system, and the size of the property, and more.
Small Lawns
$3500 - $6000
This would be for a small front and backyard on a typical, flat, level Indiana sized city building lot. Irrigation, edging, and garden beds would add additional cost.
Medium Sized Lawns
$6000 - $12,000
This would be the cost for a property that was between approximately 1/4 to 1/2 acre in size. Irrigation, edging, and garden beds would be an additional expense.
Large Or Luxury Lawns
$12,000 - $25,000+
This would be for properties larger than 1/2 acre in size. It would include front and backyard, edging, irrigation, and surrounding garden beds.
These prices are only ball park figures to give you a rough idea as to what you should expect for the cost of your new lawn installation. Your particular lawn installation project may vary depending on the site, the specific materials chosen, and the overall scope of work. New Lawn Installations Can Include
There is more to new lawn installation than simply throwing out some grass seed or rolling out some sod. If you want beautiful, uniform, lush green grass, this must be done right!
Property Grading
Grading your lawn will include grading for drainage, and bringing in the necessary amount of loam soil (usually 3" to 6") and spreading it.
Irrigation
We can organize the installation of a lawn sprinkler system for your new lawn should you want to have your lawn irrigated.
Seed Or Sod Installation
Depending on which method you'd like us to do we will either spread out grass seed or roll out your sod for an instant lawn.
Frequently Asked Questions About New Lawn Installation
The ideal time to install sod can vary but generally, the best time is during the growing season when temperatures are moderate, and there's adequate rainfall. Spring and fall are often the preferred times. Laying sod in the middle of a summer heatwave is not recommended.
Proper watering is critical for sod to take root. Water the sod immediately after installation, ensuring the soil beneath is moist to a depth of 4-6 inches. For the first two weeks, water the sod daily or as needed to keep the soil consistently moist. Gradually reduce watering frequency after that, allowing the grass to develop deeper roots.
You can mow the new sod lawn once the grass has reached a height of 3-4 inches, typically within 2-3 weeks after installation.
Limit foot traffic on the new sod for the first two weeks to allow the roots to establish properly. After that, you can gradually increase foot traffic as the grass becomes more established and resilient.
Yes, sod can be installed on slopes; however, it requires extra care to prevent erosion and ensure proper establishment of the sod. We will lay the sod perpendicular to the slope and use sod staples or pins to secure the edges.
Laying sod over existing grass is not recommended, as it can lead to poor root establishment and very uneven surfaces. It's best to remove the old grass using a sod cutter and prepare the soil properly before installing the new sod.
Sod typically takes about 2-4 weeks to root, depending on the grass variety, climate, and soil conditions. Proper watering and limiting foot traffic during this period will help encourage root establishment.

I have used Jesus for many years now. He landscaped my front and back yard plus put in a waterfall for me in my back yard. It is all breath taking. I have had so many people drive by and ask who was the landscaper that designed and did all the beautiful work. I am getting up there in age and if I call him to come and help me out, he ALWAYS makes time for me. His work is exceptional and Jesus is very professional and the nicest person (along with his crew) to have work done for you. Jesus is very knowledgeable with so many ideas as to how to make your yard look beautiful. Would never even consider using anyone else. I would rate him and his crew a 10+ and he is also very reasonable.
I had Sky Landscaping remove 10 dead pine trees from my property. They came early Saturday morning and went right to work. After a long day they left and returned early Sunday morning. Working in temperatures in the teens, each tree was cut down and limbs removed cut up and hauled away. I was very impressed with the cleanup, all of the small twigs and all chainsaw chips were removed. Everything was blown off lawn and hauled away. Except for the remaining stumps you wouldn't know anything done. I highly recommend them and I will have the do future work, they were very polite and business like.
I have nothing but great things to say about Jesus and sky landscaping. I have used him two times now to plant things move things. Here’s what I love about him and the company and his helper.. Professional,kind,and DEPENDABLE!!! he returns phone calls promptly and texts. Makes an appointment to come and see about a project. He’s there exactly on time makes a time and a date when to do the work he is there exactly on time. Someone you should highly consider the next time you have a garden project I have seen him do some fire pits for other people and stepping stones. There’s many many things that he can do I just have not had him do any of them.
